Pigs
We’ve thoughtfully bred a line of pigs that combines market breeds with the illustrious Mangalitsa, a heritage breed that elevates our farmstead with its remarkable qualities. Famous for its “Wagyu of pork” status, the Mangalitsa delivers exquisitely marbled, tender meat with a rich, savory flavor, owed to its woolly coat and high fat content—perfect for families seeking nutrient-dense, delicious pork. By crossing it with market breeds, we balance this gourmet quality with faster growth and versatility, while keeping the Mangalitsa’s innate foraging skills and durability. These pigs shine in our sustainable system, naturally tilling compost piles to speed decomposition , aerating soil in the orchards, and recycling orchard scraps—all while enriching the land with their manure, and converting leftovers and waste from other areas of the farm into that mouth-watering bacon. We raise this unique line to produce exceptional pork that reflects our dedication to soil vitality, animal synergy, and providing our community with wholesome, responsibly raised food.
Laying Hens
We raise a vibrant trio of laying hens—American Bresse, Rhode Island Reds, and Easter Eggers—each chosen for their distinct characteristics and invaluable contributions to our sustainable farmstead. The American Bresse, a dual-purpose marvel, lays generous white eggs and offers tender, flavorful meat, thriving in our pasture-based system with its hardy, foraging nature. Rhode Island Reds, a classic American breed, bring reliability and resilience, producing a steady supply of large brown eggs with deep golden yolks, perfectly suited to our holistic approach and fluctuating seasons. Easter Eggers add a playful twist, laying a rainbow of blue, green, and pink eggs, while their adaptability and spirited personalities enhance flock diversity. Turkeys
We raise a dynamic mix of Bourbon Red and Narragansett turkey breeds, selected for their standout traits and seamless fit with our sustainable, nature-inspired farmstead. Bourbon Reds, with their striking plumage and rich heritage, offer tender, flavorful meat and a knack for foraging, thriving in our pastures and orchards while naturally controlling pests like grasshoppers and ticks. Narragansetts, another American classic, bring robust hardiness and a mellow temperament, delivering succulent, well-marbled meat that delights at the table, all while grazing alongside our other livestock with ease. Together, this blend enhances our holistic system—scavenging insects, spreading manure, and adding biodiversity—while requiring minimal supplemental feed thanks to their self-sufficient nature. Beef Cattle
We’ve chosen to raise a cross of Black Angus and Hereford beef cows. This cross combines the best of both breeds: Black Angus brings its renowned high-quality meat, known for its marbling and rich flavor, while Hereford adds hardiness and efficient grass conversion, crucial for our pasture-based system. The result is cattle that are robust, adaptable, and efficient in converting our farm’s natural resources into premium beef, reducing our reliance on external feed and minimizing our environmental footprint. These crossbred cows exhibit hybrid vigor, enhancing their health and fertility, which means less need for veterinary interventions—a key aspect of our commitment to sustainability.
